Nicola Mary Coughlan, born January 9, 1987, in Galway, Ireland, is an Irish actress known for her roles as Clare Devlin in 'Derry Girls' and Penelope Featherington in Netflix's period drama 'Bridgerton'. She earned a SAG Award nomination for the latter role. Coughlan graduated from NUI Galway with a degree in English and Classical Civilization, then trained at Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of Acting. The youngest of three siblings, her father served in the Irish Army.
