Belén Rueda was born in Madrid, Spain, to parents who were a civil engineer and ballet instructor. She has two siblings named Chus and Violeta. Due to her younger sister's health issues, the family moved to San Juan, Alicante when Belén was young. After marrying an Italian man at 18, she returned to Madrid where she worked as a salesperson and model before becoming a TV presenter. Rueda then transitioned into acting on television shows like Los Serrano before appearing in films. She won the Goya Award for Best Actress for her role in 'Mar Adentro' (2004) and received another nomination for 'The Orphanage' (2007).
