Maia Morgenstern is a renowned Romanian actress, known internationally for her role as Mary, Jesus' mother, in 'The Passion of the Christ'. In Romania, she rose to prominence with her portrayal of Nela in 'Balanţa' (1992), a film set during the late Communist era. Her stage and film career has made her a symbol of Romanian theater and cinema.
